A report released by our neighbors up north has been making the rounds of the press recently about how smartphones, and computers in general, have made us dumberer, eh.

But before we send our smartphones back for remedial education let’s not forget some of the enormous advances (e.g., Snapchat, Candy Crush Saga and emojis) that have followed since the invention of the microchip by Robert Noyce of Fairchild Semiconductor in 1958, and how we used to get things done:
